[ARCHIVED] New Flood Rate Insurance Maps workshop January 29th

The Nye County Planning Department would like to announce a local workshop hosted by: Nye County, Nevada Division of Water Resources, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Region IX, to provide information on the pending revised Flood Rate Insurance Maps (FIRMs), covering the southern area of Nye County.

These revisions are a part of Nye County’s participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to provide Nye County residents with access to flood insurance and to ensure that federal disaster assistance is available in a federally declared disaster.  The pending revised FIRMs become effective March 6, 2020.

The revised maps will be presented to the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission on Wednesday, January 15th in the Commission Chambers, 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. The agenda item will be Presentation and Information Regarding the Culmination of the Multi-Year Project to Re-Examine Flood Risks and Develop Detailed Digital Flood Hazard Maps for the Southern Area of Nye County is nearing completion. The pending revised Flood Rate Insurance Maps (FIRMs) will become effective March 6, 2020 providing Nye County Residents with Updated, Reliable Information Regarding Flood Risks.
